Adell, his wife, left him for another man after 19 years of marriage. He grew to believe he was the victim of universal female conspiracy. Trained early in life as a sign painter, "Prophet" Royal Robertson continued creating visionary paintings, painted signs and drawings until he died. The imagery and writings often included the apocalypse, biblical interpretations and alien visitations.
